The Constitution of Kenya 2010 which was promulgated on the 27th August, 2010 gives prominence to the Sovereignty of the people (chapter 1), the Republic and the Territory of Kenya (Chapter 2) and issues of Citizenship (Chapter 3). The Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, 2011 which implements Chapter 3 of the Constitution commenced on 30th August 2011, which effectively repealed the Kenya Citizenship Act Cap. 170, the Immigration Act Cap. 172 and the Aliens Restriction Act, Cap. 173, Laws of Kenya.

Regaining Citizenship – Form 1

Eligible for citizen of Kenya by birth who ceased to be citizens by acquiring the citizenship of another country before the constitution of Kenya 2010.

Widows And Widowers – Form 9

A foreign national who has been Married to Kenyan citizen for over 7 years is eligible for registration, as a citizen of Kenya in the event of death of the Kenyan spouse.

Foreign national who has been a lawful resident in Kenya for a continuous period of at least 7 years is eligible for registration as a citizen of Kenya on application in prescribed manner

Children And Dependants – Form 11

Children who were born before the parent acquired Kenyan citizenship.

A Child or a person with disability who is a dependent of any biological parent or legal guardian who is a citizen of Kenya by registration is eligible for registration. A Child who is not a citizen, but is adopted by a citizen of kenya, is eligible for registration as a citizen,on application in the prescribed manner.

Stateless Persons – Form 13

Any person who does not have an enforceable claim to citizenship of any recognized state and has been lawfully living in Kenya for a continuous period since 12th December, 1963 is eligible for registration as a citizen of Kenya
